New research shows ("The Washington Post," 9/29/03) what many of us have suspected for a long time: There is a physiological link between chronic stress and our craving for high-calorie, high-sugar, high-fat foods and drink—"comfort foods." This link is especially strong among those living in the industrialized nations.
