Stop Junk Mail

Maybe you'll save a tree, maybe you'll save a few trees.
You'll definitely reduce waste and carbon emissions.

A Series on the Environment from the Question Line Duo

Think of it as a small act of rebellion with a satisfying payoff. Say no to wasteful, unsolicited paper mail.

There are many web sites out there offering statistics on how wasteful all of that junk mail is, but you know . . . If a piece of paper was stuffed into your mailbox that you never read and threw in the trash, then it was wasteful. All of that waste adds up. And if we each say no to this wasteful practice, the impact will add up!

"An American adult receives 41 pounds of junk mail a year. To produce this much paper requires cutting down somewhere between 80 million and 100 million trees annually. If left standing, these trees would absorb 1.7 million tons of CO2 a year." Let's Ban Junk Mail Already [Sierra Club]

"At the end, we want to be able to say to ourselves and our children: We were on the right side of history. We took responsibility for changing our patterns and rhythms which resulted in a life that added balance to the larger picture rather than perpetuating the problem."
